U.S. President Donald Trump has declared an end to his once-close relationship with billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk.
Trump confirmed the split during an NBC News interview on Saturday, June 7, 2025, saying, “I would assume so, yeah,” when asked if the relationship was over.
Pressed on whether he would consider mending the ties, Trump bluntly answered, “No.”
The rift follows Musk’s public attacks on Trump’s tax and spending proposal, the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill.”
Musk labeled the bill a “disgusting abomination” and warned it would bloat the national deficit and damage fiscal reform.
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO previously donated $250 million to Trump’s campaign and served briefly as a White House adviser. Continue Reading…
Trump has now vowed to retaliate against Musk’s businesses, threatening to slash federal contracts.
On his platform, Truth Social, Trump branded Musk “crazy” and accused him of betraying the presidency.
“You could not disrespect the office of the president,” Trump told NBC.
Musk escalated the feud by posting claims on X linking Trump to Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier.
The post, which was later deleted, suggested Trump’s name appeared in unreleased Epstein documents.
Epstein’s lawyer swiftly denied the claims, calling them fabricated and misleading.
The accusations drew bipartisan backlash and deepened the growing hostility between the two former allies.
Vice President J.D. Vance sided with Trump, warning Musk’s “nuclear attacks” had made reconciliation impossible.
“He may never be welcomed back,” Vance said, signaling strong GOP unity behind the president.
Despite his past support, Musk now threatens to fund political challengers to Republicans who backed Trump’s bill.
He reportedly plans to back moderate or independent candidates in the 2026 midterm elections.
Trump warned that if Musk supports Democrats or rivals, he would “face serious consequences.”
Musk’s companies, including SpaceX and Tesla, have long depended on lucrative government contracts. Continue Reading…
Analysts say Trump’s threat could impact federal procurement deals involving satellite launches and electric vehicle subsidies.
Trump’s latest move may also stir debate over the merging of business, politics, and presidential retaliation.
The feud has drawn widespread attention, especially as Musk remains one of the world’s most influential CEOs.
Musk has not issued a formal statement since deleting the Epstein-related post.
However, he has hinted at future political realignments, distancing himself from the Trump-led GOP base.
Some Republican strategists fear Musk’s billions could boost opposition groups or swing key races.
Others argue Trump’s stance only solidifies his grip on the party heading into the next election cycle.
The clash reflects deepening divides among America’s conservative elite ahead of the 2026 midterms.
What began as a policy dispute has erupted into a personal and political war between two of the world’s most powerful men.
The outcome could reshape U.S. tech policy, donor influence, and the future of conservative politics. Continue Reading…
