Nnamdi Kanu

Following Nnamdi Kanu’s conviction on all seven terrorism counts, the Federal Government on Thursday asked the court to sentence him to death.

He said the maximum sentence was the only way to deliver justice to victims and noted that counts 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 carry a death penalty, count 3 carries 20 years, and count 7 carries five years.

Awomolo added that Kanu showed no remorse, was arrogant in court, and urged the judge to order forfeiture of broadcast equipment seized from him and restrict his access to digital devices and the internet.

He also asked that Kanu not be kept at Kuje prison due to past jailbreaks.
