President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio

Mr Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate on Tuesday, said foreign mercenaries could be responsible for the brutal killing of 16 soldiers in Delta community.

While speaking on Tuesday during a debate on two merged motions by Senators Abdulaziz Yar’Adua and Edeh Dafinone, Akpabio noted that those who killed the soldiers may be mercenaries.

He said, “We are not at war. I don’t think they are from the Niger Delta. They may be mercenaries.”

The Red Carpet Chamber ordered an investigation into the wicked killings as it has directed its Committee on Defence, Army, Navy, and Air Force to liaise with the Military command to get more information on the remote and immediate cause of what it described as “a dastardly act.”
