President Bola Tinubu can now heave a sigh of relief as the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other law enforcement agencies in the United States will no longer release his files purportedly containing his records of crimes.

Nigeria’s famous investigative journalist, David Hundeyin and Aaron Greenspan had commenced an FOIA request process regarding Bola Tinubu’s extensive criminal records with US law enforcement. Instead, the court ordered the Bureau to release only release documents that does not have Tinubu’s name in any crime in the U.S.

The court ruled that only documents that do not directly mention the President’s name will be released.

The FBI had previously agreed to release 2,500 documents related to President Tinubu. The documents were to be released in batches of 500 per month starting from October. However, the court’s ruling now means that only a fraction of these documents will be released. Continue Reading…
