Tension is building up in  Kano as a fresh round of protest has broken out in the ancient city amid tussle of who becomes the Emir of the state.

Around 4pm on Sunday, young persons marched to the streets to demand a return of the dethroned monarch.

Some of them lit bonfire on the major road as they marched chanting anti-government songs.

Daily Trust reports that policemen are on ground but they did not attempt to disperse the protesters.

The protesters trooped out after observing a special prayer session.
