Gunmen, reportedly enforcing the banned sit-at-home order, launched a series of deadly attacks on Monday morning in various communities throughout Anambra Central Senatorial Zone.

The first assault occurred in Abatete, where attackers targeted security personnel assigned to the town’s President-General (PG). Three security guards were shot dead, and the PG sustained severe injuries, necessitating urgent transport to a nearby hospital.

In separate assaults, the gunmen struck Abagana and Ukpo, claiming the lives of a member of the Vigilante Group and a motorcycle rider at the Ukpo roundabout in Dunukofia Local Government Area.
