Nnamdi Kanu

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has convicted the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, for committing terrorism-related of fences. Read More…

The court, in a ruling delivered on Thursday, held Kanu guilty on counts one and two of the seven-count charge filed against him by the Federal Government. Justice Omotosho ruled that Kanu’s repeated broadcasts, in which he allegedly issued threats of violence, killings and sit-at-home directives across the South-East, amounted to acts of terrorism under Nigerian law.

The judge said the prosecution established that the sit-at-home orders and inciting statements contributed to widespread fear, disruptions, and violent incidents recorded in parts of the region.
