The commencement of automated passport application process has been slated to start on Monday, January 8, 2024.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo while conducting an inspection of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) facilities in Abuja, accompanied by the Comptroller General of the Service, Wura-Ola Adepoju, on Monday

He said, “We are fully prepared to launch. Training is underway, and by January 8, the system will be operational, offering Nigerians a seamless and efficient experience, in line with Mr. President’s vision
“We have significantly minimised human interaction in the passport acquisition process.”
“This action attempts to thoroughly scrutinize passport applications and prevent the submission of fake documents.
