The Management of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has announced a ban on all social activities on campus that extend beyond 6:00 p.m., following a fatal stabbing incident.
The directive was contained in a statement signed by the Acting Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. Inya Egwu.
According to the statement, the decision became necessary after the tragic incident of September 12, when a businessman identified as Chiebonam Nweze, popularly known as Power-Autos, was stabbed to death.

“ Henceforth, the UNN management has directed that all such activities must be held strictly during the daytime and under the supervision of the University Security Unit,” the statement read.
The management further stressed: “Social events of any kind will not be permitted on our campuses beyond 6:00 p.m. henceforth.”
According to UNN, the bonfire event was hijacked by miscreants from a neighbouring community, who instigated violence that led to the tragedy.
While condemning the act, the university assured the public of its commitment to security on campus.
“UNN remains fully committed to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all members of its community and will continue to take every necessary measure to prevent a recurrence of such an incident,” the statement added. Continue Reading…
