Portugal’s Central Bank issues first crypto license

Banco de Portugal has issued the country’s first crypto license to an entity owned by a bank, allowing Bison Bank to act as a Virtual Asset Service Provider.

This means the Hong Kong-based private capital group will be able to offer custodian and crypto trading services.

The move follows the first-ever full VASP license issued last month to Portugal-based crypto payments firm Utrust, and three exchanges given licenses last summer.
