Obinna Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, a businessman and social media personality, has received a seven-day notice to vacate Plot 81, Ademola Adetokumbo Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja, the location of his popular Cubana Lounge, due to alleged unpaid rent.
Rev. Chidiebere Amakaeze, the landlord of the property housing the Cubana Lounge in Wuse, has claimed that Obi Cubana, the founder of the Cubana Group, has not paid rent since 2019.

In the first quit notice dated 14 January 2025, the landlord demanded that “Cubana vacate the premises and return control of the property and its appurtenances located at Plot 81, Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja.”
According to the lawyers, Obi Cubana is no longer considered a tenant, as his ten-year lease, which began on 1 April 2009 and ended on 1 March 2019, has expired.
They asserted that Cubana has occupied the premises without payment since then and must vacate the property within seven days from the date of the notice.
The lawyers have also sent a reminder to Obi Cubana.
In this reminder, dated 21 January 2025, they urged the businessman to leave the property so the landlord can repurpose it.
The reminder, referenced as COG/428/2025, titled “7-Day Notice of Owner’s Intention to Apply for Recovery of Possession,” warned that the landlord would seek legal action in the high court in Abuja to reclaim the property if Cubana does not vacate.
The landlord stated he would pursue legal remedies “unless peaceful possession of the premises, which he (Cubana) currently occupies and whose tenancy expired on 31 March 2019, is returned to agents or attorneys representing the landlord before the seven-day notice lapses.” Continue Reading…
