Manchester United will look to defy a worsening injury crisis as they travel to face Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena (AKA Anoeta) in San Sebastian, Spain in the Europa League this evening.
Ruben Amorim’s side are in Spain for the first leg of their last-16 tie on Thursday night and know this competition is their last hope of salvaging some positivity from an otherwise miserable season.
Holders Man Utd were knocked out of the FA Cup at home by Fulham in the fifth round on penalties on Sunday to continue their stumbling run under Amorim.
They did at least earn a bye straight through to the last 16 of the Europa League, whereas Real Sociedad had to come through an extra knockout play-off tie against FC Midtjylland of Denmark, which they won 7-3 on aggregate.
