The Department of State Services (DSS) has returned the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to it custody after medical examination over the weekend.

Kanu was reportedly returned to custody late Sunday after being allowed to see his personal physicians over the weekend.

Parrot Vibes had earlier reported that DSS released the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra for a medical check-up at his doctors following a Federal High Court order.

Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, broke the news on his social media handle, saying that the IPOB leader has finally undergone his medical examination in a hospital in Abuja outside the facility of the DSS.

The court had, on July 20, ordered the secret police to grant Kanu access to his personal physicians, dismissing the DSS objection to the prayer.

Kanu had claimed that he is suffering from an ear infection and needs surgery.

Barrister Ejiofor stated that Kanu, who has been in detention since 2021, had access to his personal physicians and had been taken back into custody.

He said: “He [Nnamdi Kanu has been attended to, and after preliminary examinations, he was taken back.”

The lawyer, however, declined further comments on his health conditions, among others.
