EDUCATION: WAEC 2020 May/June New Examination Date Announced

The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajuiba, has announced a new date for the conduct of the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). This was disclosed during the daily Presidential Task Force briefing.

Nwajuiba said that the WAEC examination for graduating students will now hold from August 3rd till 5th September 2020.

He stated that the moment WAEC is over, NABTEB and NECO will commence. The minister added that the local timing for the WAEC examination will be published soon.

According to him, “From tomorrow this is part of what we are taking into our concluding stakeholder meeting with NCDC, Nigeria union of teachers, NUT, and everybody will be at the concluding stakeholders meeting tomorrow and these dates are what we are going to take into the meeting.

“We will be asking that those who are not prepared yet should please go and prepare.”

“The idea is we have a month from now till August 3, so the states who are willing should make their schools available for their children to revise,” he said.

The minister also revealed that registration for NECO will continue for those who have not concluded registration to complete theirs.

He appealed to candidates to prepare for their examinations.
