Antony Blinken and Dr Clifford Iroanya

American based engineer, Dr Clifford Chukwuemeka Iroanya, has slammed Antony Blinken, the US secretary of State after he announced that the government of United States has taken steps to impose visa restrictions on specific individuals in Nigeria for undermining the democratic process during the last election in February.

Though, no name of any individual was published by the American authorities.

According to Blinken, the decision to impose visa restrictions reflects the continued commitment of the United States to support Nigerian aspirations to strengthen democracy and the rule of law.

But Dr Iroanya who refused to buy the visa ban rhetoric in a statement made available to News Band Newspaper, described the action of US government as counter-productive, adding that they are only legitimizing a fraud.

He argued that the democracy which Blinken made reference to while announcing the visa restrictions ought to be properly defined just like it is done in the United States.

While questioning the credibility of Nigeria’s constitution, Dr Iroanya further queried if there was ever a time the people came together to enact, make, and give unto themselves the 1999 constitution Mr Blinken made reference to?

He however, said if the secretary of state cannot provide answer to the question, he has only succeeded in legitimizing fraud (1999 constitution). Read More>>>

The statement reads, “Mr. Blinken, I want to put it to you that this your tweet is counter-productive, why? Because you are legitimizing a fraud, an action which is punishable by jail terms in the Untied States.

“The “DEMOCRACY” you are referring to in your tweet is supposed to be properly defined just as it is done in the United States, where it is called “CONSTITUTIONAL DEMOCRACY”. Meaning that it is a “DEMOCRACY based on a properly-made and properly-activated CONSTITUTION”.

“The United States of America, whom you represent did exactly this in 1787, culminating in the Ratification of the US Constitution on June 21, 1788.

“My question to you is:

“Did “We The Peoples of Nigeria….”at any time enact, make, and give unto ourselves the so-called 1999 Constitution upon which you are anchoring your reference to DEMOCRACY? If you cannot answer this question honestly, does it not tell you that the so-called 1999 Constitution is a fraud and your tweet is indeed perpetuating that fraud?

“May I call upon you to identify, isolate, and punish those who fraudulently and criminally concocted that document and named it Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution. These are the people you should impose visa restrictions on, and you know ALL of them, so stop pretending.

“The ONLY way you can see a credible electoral process and outcomes in Nigeria is after Nigeria undergoes CONSTITUTIONAL RECONFIGURATION, which starts with Regional Referendums for a “STAY or LEAVE the Nigerian Union” votes and the results from these Referendums will dictate the next step which may result in any of the following three outcomes for each Region and the outcomes are; RE-FEDERATION, CON-FEDERATION, or NON-FEDERATION.

“If the above steps are not followed, you and your future predecessors should be ready to continue imposing visa restrictions, ad-infinitum, while acknowledging the existence of a fraudulent document called Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution.” Continue Reading>>>
