Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has started the payment of the N70,000 minimum wage approved by the Federal Government.

President Bola Tinubu signed the new Minimum Wage bill into law a few weeks ago following prolonged negotiations with organized labor.

In contrast, the Adamawa governor has initiated the payment of the new minimum wage for state workers, which began in August 2024. He also promised that local government workers would start receiving the increased salary in September.

This announcement has led to widespread celebrations among civil servants in the state who confirmed the new payment in their August salary.

A report by Daily Trust say some workers expressed their gratitude to the governor for keeping his promise, calling him a “man of his word.”
