BREAKING: FG Declares Two-Days Public Holiday

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.

The announcement was made on Monday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

According to the statement, the declaration reflects the Federal Government’s respect for the Islamic faith and the spiritual significance of the celebration to millions of Muslims in Nigeria and across the world.

“The declaration was in affirmation of the Federal Government’s profound respect for the faith and spiritual heritage of millions of Nigerian Muslims who join the global Islamic community in observing this sacred occasion,” the statement Read. Continue Reading… 

The minister conveyed the goodwill of the Federal Government to Muslim faithful across the country and in the diaspora, urging Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for peace, unity, and national progress.

He called on citizens to engage in sober reflection and seek divine guidance for the country as it continues efforts to achieve lasting peace, security, and economic prosperity.

“It is in the spirit of brotherhood, shared humanity, and national unity that the Federal Government wishes all Muslims a peaceful, blessed, and joyous celebration,” Tunji-Ojo stated.

The Federal Government also described Eid-ul-Adha as a festival of deep spiritual importance rooted in sacrifice, obedience to God, and compassion toward humanity. Continue Reading…
