A medical tribunal in the United Kingdom has heard shocking details of how Dr. Suhail Anjum, a consultant anaesthetist, allegedly left a patient under anaesthetic to have sex with a nurse at Tameside Hospital, Greater Manchester.
According to the tribunal, Dr. Anjum claimed he needed a “comfort break” during the procedure and asked a colleague to monitor the patient. Instead, he went into another theatre where he engaged in sexual activity with Nurse C.

Andrew Molloy, who represented the General Medical Council (GMC), said: “It is right to say that no harm came to the patient when Dr. Anjum was absent from the theatre and the procedure went on without further incident.”
Dr. Anjum admitted to the allegations, describing his actions as deeply regrettable.
“It was quite shameful, to say the least. I only have myself to blame,” he told the tribunal.
The anaesthetist also apologised to those affected, saying: “I offer my sincere apologies to everyone involved and I want the opportunity to put this right.”
