A 42-year-old man has been charged with multiple rapes and the intentional transmission of HIV in a case that has shocked communities in the United Kingdom.

The suspect, Adam Hall, appeared before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

Hall, who is currently of no fixed address but formerly resided in the Washington area, faces a total of 15 serious charges.

 

Police confirmed that Hall has been charged with five counts of rape and seven counts of grievous bodily harm, specifically related to knowingly transmitting the HIV virus to unsuspecting victims.

He is also accused of two counts of controlling or coercive behaviour and one count of supplying a Class B drug, specifically GHB, commonly referred to as a “date-rape drug”. Continue Reading…

Following the hearing, Hall was remanded in custody, and is scheduled to appear next at Newcastle Crown Court on July 2, 2025.

Detective Chief Inspector Emma Smith of Northumbria Police acknowledged the deeply disturbing nature of the case.

She urged anyone with relevant information to step forward, stating:

“We recognise the nature of the charges may raise concern and anxiety within our communities. We ask that anyone with information or concerns please come forward and speak to officers.”

Police have not yet disclosed the timeline of the alleged offenses or the locations where the crimes took place.
